The Tinged Series.
I recently got good news that I have been accepted into the Superheroes/Supervillains Show in Chiang Mai, Thailand @ the Look At This Gallery, it’s going to be curated by Ms. Laura Spector. Out of about a 100 or so, I was lucky enough to be one of the finalists. Both my new works “Encarne” (the oil painting in the previous post), and “Binary” (below) were accepted.

Dear Self,
“Dear Self,
What have you been doing? So few rejections these past 3 months, a lot of things going in your head…You lost your job, it’s cuz the company got sued and went practically bankrupt, and so on and so forth. Found a job working with events and brand activation, yet another compromise to get some cash and prep up for the future. Things haven’t been any clearer in...

Complacency is the womb of mediocrity.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. The uncertainty of the stability of the company I work at has come to a conclusion. They’re shutting down operations. On the same day I was told I wasn’t going to have a job anymore, I found out I got featured in CULTUREPUSH and that I have won Voter’s Choice for the logitech competition I joined for fun. Twas a weird...

Brush works in Sepia/Noir.
I’ve put on hold oil painting to work on purely black paint and do some brush work on my sketchpad that’s been neglected for quite a while now. No studies whatsoever, since it’s been ages since painted on paper and in one color continuously from headpoint. Unlike oil, I can’t work on several layers, it’s good in a way that I need to know where my brush is going and...
Spoken well.
“HF: Do you have any words of wisdom, or bits of advice for our readers thinking about pursuing art full time? CB: DO NOT BECOME AN ARTIST. If you can do something else, do it. However, if this is what you are, god love you, it will never be an easy path. Our eyes, our hands, our minds are committed to service. It is a calling. It will demand every sacrifice of you as you...
Muerte Maria.
I’ve thought about it several times, and all I could keep thinking of was one thing—-When death comes for me, I want it to be a happy surprise.
I have mentioned I have started creating images of Day of The Dead girls, and no, they are very much non-related to Sylvia Ji’s work. I have been fascinated with death, skulls and ornamental, decorative things that are prolific through...
Exit.
Tonight will be the night that we begin to ease the plugs out of the dam. And we will stand knee deep in the flow, the undertow will grab our heels and won’t let go. And while we hold, our legs quivering, the water rises now to our teeth when we just let go and sail belly up to the clouds, the rocks scraping our backs. To breathe in the air will be the only thing that we have and all...
Devouring Ache
Devouring Ache was one of the first (in a not so many—-YET!) illustrations that is kicking off this idea of combining typography with figure. I don’t know if there’s a term for it, if anyone knows, give me a heads up. This work was conceived yes, on a trainride and I didn’t have my sketchbook at the time and created a rough sketch that looked more like something terribly scrawled on an atm...
Empty it, and fill it up.
“Stung”
“All great deeds and all great thoughts have a ridiculous beginning. Great works are often born on a street corner or in a restaurant’s revolving door.” -Albert Camus
I have created this blog to serve as an update/journal of sorts to keep track of the things I create, something that I have never done before. Amidst the seemingly slow but...
